Everyone’s skin is unique.
However, certain products and weather conditions can trigger different reactions. To keep your skin healthy and nourished, it is important to know which skin type you match with.
This can help you determine which products will help reduce redness, retain moisture and prevent break-outs.
Skin is classified into different types based on 3 main factors:
- Sebaceous Secretion
- Hydration
- Sensitivity Level
Sebaceous Glands secrete an oily, waxy substance called sebum. If your skin produces this in excess, it may appear shiny and oily to the touch.

Skin Care Tips:
AVERAGE: Lucky you! You experience little to no breakouts, dryness or oiliness. You are free to experiment with products containing different ingredients until you find the perfect match.
OILY: There is a huge benefit to oily skin, in that you often have fewer wrinkles as you grow older. However, if you’d like to control that shine, go for products labelled as ‘non-comedogenic’ as these won’t clog your pores. You still need to moisturise! This is essential no matter your skin type. Oil-free moisturisers are the best way to go!
DRY: To look after your skin, apply a rich moisturiser multiple times a day when needed. Especially after washing your hands or bathing. Avoid using any fragranced products as these may irritate your skin further. Go for water-based products to help rehydrate your skin as well as drinking 8 glasses of water a day!
ACNE-PRONE: Use cleansers, exfoliants and moisturisers that will help minimise breakouts. Look out for acne-fighting ingredients such as retinol or salicylic acid.
COMBINATION: Stay clear of any alcohol-based products. Ensure you moisturise daily, even on the areas you feel are quite oily. Use a toner after cleansing to help balance out the skin and treat any problem areas with an overnight spot-treatment.
